‘Win or eat a bowl of Richard’s (????)’

Inspirational words indeed from Jack O Stevens, as ‘Hot Fuzz’ sought to fire up Le Glamour pre -game and keep the title dream alive (for at least one more week).

Ross and Trevor stood between Le Glamour and the three points they coveted. There was an air of nervous excitement at the Stade Blanc, which was taken to a whole new level by Harry Smith and his mid warm up vomiting session.

Apparently contemplating eating a bowl of Richards was not sitting well with young Harold and the out of date Sushi he had just consumed.

The message was simple ‘Focus on structure, discipline and tempo. Nothing silly in the first ten minutes’. The result a Ross and Trevor goal after only five or so minutes. Le Glamour looked lethargic and devoid of ideas. Then as Jack O Stevens began to prep a large bowl of Richards the boys in White woke from their slumber.

Our young Casanova, Liam Mulligan, was sent clear on goal by a superb through ball from Stuart Smith. Keen to atone for abandoning his team mates at half time the previous week for his future bride (Elly Pfitzner) loves young dream chipped the keeper to level the scores.

With the scores level Ross and Trevor seemed happy to sit back and try to catch Le Glamour on the counter attack. Despite some minor moments of ‘panic’ big Daniel Aikin remained largely untroubled in goal.

Liam Mulligan added his and Le Glamour second midway through the half after good work down the right by Damian Holoubek.

Phil Collins was first to the cheeky fookers cross and his cushioned header fell perfectly to Liam to volley home for a 2 – 1 lead. As half time approached Le Glamour opted to consolidate their lead and see out the last few remaining minutes. No sorry that’s what the coach would have liked.

Hungry for more goals Le Glamour poured forward and got caught on the counter attack. Half time and 2 – 2.

The second half saw Le Glamour dominate Ross and Trevor. The work ethic, tempo and desire of Le Glamour had the boys in red rattled. Some of the passing and movement was excellent. Chances began to come (and go and continue to go). That was until Le Glamour were awarded a free kick wide left.

Up stepped Matthew Bate to deliver the set piece. Le Glamours target men (Damo, Liam et al) timed their runs to perfection, dragging the Ross and Trevor defenders to the near post.

Master Bates sent in a cracker of a ball (now trending on you tube) and there was Ian Hendrie Jnr unmarked at the back post to steer home Le Glamours third of the day (and his seventeenth of the season).

3 – 2 it finished. The song was sung was gusto.

Le Glamour six points clear in second spot with two games to play. Windsor Gardens remain top of the ladder with a five point cushion.

It’s a big IF but IF Scotch can get some type of result against Windsor and Le Glamour win their game, the title could come down to the last game of the season.

Referees Best on Ground:

  • Liam Mulligan
  • Chris Roschi
  • Ian Hendrie Jnr

Thanks to Le Glamour resident Casanova Liam Mulligan for nominating his bride to be to wash the kit.
